Day two...and you didn't even know it!

Today is day two without Husband and Eldest. They left on Wednesday for VA for Grandpa's 70th birthday party. Yesterday went well. Today was a dream though. Here at Crazy Mommy's we pride ourselves on quality child care. Not having Eldest around actually helped me fulfill this goal today! I only had Youngest and Peanut today and they both took 1.5 hour naps in the AM and 3 hour naps in the PM. I even took a nap this afternoon. What fun! Those babies really do have the life. Tonight I am going to curl up with my Lean Cuisine, a glass of wine and the season finale of LOST. Perfect!

On another note, I heard that Eldest went fishing for the first time today and caught something. I'm so glad Rob decided to bring the camera so he could get some good shots of the first fishing trip. YAY!

Really? After all that hard work?

I'm so bummed. I spent a better part of today cleaning my house from top to bottom (minus the play room downstairs), but when I returned home from being out tonight with Logan the whole place smelled like garbage. BLECH! I'm pretty confident the culprit is the garbage in his room containing at least 5 stinky diapers. I'm going to take it out tonight and see if that helps. If not, we'll see if someone left me a gift (barf, poop, snot) in the play room tomorrow when I tackle that mess. MAN CAVE!

What time of year is it again? I forget!

You know, I am SICK of this weather. It's rainy, it's COLD, and it S-U-C-K-S.

What sucks more is my husband and Eldest son leave tomorrow for a trip to VA...where the overnight lows are HIGHER than our daily high temps here. It's almost JUNE for crying out loud!!! If we have another summer like last year where we barely see the sun and it still rains after fourth of July I will have to be committed. NO ONE can love this, I don't care if you were born and raised here...NO ONE can love this weather.

I bought tank tops and shorts yesterday and I'm pretty bummed that I won't be wearing them until July. GRRRRRRR.

I still love the Mariners

Tonight I had a GREAT time at the Mariner's game with my friend Jess. They played the Red Sox, and she's a huge fan. She wore her "Sox" hat and I wore my Mariners Jersey and we cracked jokes and egged each other on in between stories about our kids and the silly things they do. It was so fun.

I love baseball. Going to field, getting a hot dog, cheering with the crowd...it's a really fun experience. However, the experience is a lot more fun when your team is winning. I'm no fair weathered fan. I love the Mariners, and will route them on forever, but COME ON! Everyone needs to stop wanting to be the home run hero and start getting base hits so those that are capable if actually hitting a home run can get some some points on the board.

Tonight Jess asked which was worse (in my opinion), to strike out swinging or to strike out looking. I picked to strike out looking. You're paid to look and KNOW when a strike is coming your way. PAID BIG MONEY! I know I couldn't do it, those balls are going way to fast. If it looks close, swing at it. Don't be picky because you think you may not hit a home run. These are games people, NOT HOME RUN DERBIES!

Some folks may get all puffed up about my comments because, after all, what do I know about baseball and being at the plate with a ball coming at you at 90 miles an hour. well, the answer would be "not much". I've already said I couldn't hit that kind of pitch. I'm merely stating how I would chose to play the game. This is how I play on my softball team. I don't want to stand there like a dufus and strike out because the pitch wasn't perfect for me. I'll swing and miss before that happens. At least then the other teams know to be ready next time I'm at bat, because that swing may actually make contact (and let me be clear here...it usually does)!

Yep, I'm feeling cocky tonight! I'm sure that will come back to bite me in the ass on Wednesday during my game. I'll be sure to write an update!

Move over Thomas...here comes something WAY cooler!

Because we're nerds, we have season's 1 and 2 of the original Transformers Cartoon on DVD. Bean LOVES Transformers, so we loaned the DVDs to him to watch for a while. His mom returned them to us when she dropped Peanut off for the first time, so when Bean came over on Tuesday, he knew we had them! He asked to watch and I obliged, impressing them both with my knowledge of the characters and knowing ALL the words to the theme song (NERD!). I didn't think Eldest would be interested in the DVD, but boy was I wrong.

HE LOVES TRANSFORMERS NOW! We're so thrilled. So long Thomas! We'll see you in a few months when Logan wants to play trains...but don't get your hopes up!

Welcome to Crazy Mommy's!

When I was growing up in NY, there was a commercial on TV for a TV store (or maybe a Hardware store) called "Crazy Eddie's". You could see the white's of the guys eyes as he screamed about his deals...that were so low, he must be "CRRRRRRAZY!"...well, I've decided to name my temporary daycare "Crazy Mommy's".

I'm helping out a friend while she's between daycares, and three days out of the week I have four boys in my house, two days I have three, and the rest I have two (my own). It's good practice for seeing what having a 3rd will be like, and we've had our share of interesting times arleady and they've only been coming for a week!

Take yesterday for example. All four of us were stuck in the house all day because of the rain. Around 2:30 the sun started to pop out, so I took the boys for a walk. My friends oldest son (we'll call hime "Bean"), and Eldest walked while I pushed the babies (My friends youngest son is 10 months and we'll call him "Peanut")in the double jogger. Bean and Eldest ran and laughed all the way to the park and were having a great time putting the spider man figurine they brought down the slide when the sky opened up on us! I quickly put the babies in the stroller with the rain guard over them, and put up my hood while the older boys played in the rain. This is when I realized Eldest didn't have a jacket on. I waited a couple minutes, but the rain wouldn't let up, so I said I was time to go. Bean is a GREAT listener, he was at my side at once. Eldest not so much. This is pretty common, and my way of dealing with it is to tell him I'm leaving and start walking away without him. It usually works, but it didn't yesterday and poor Bean thought I would actually leave Eldest there, so he begged Eldest to listen. Bean was even crying because he didn't want to see his friend left behind. This was by far the sweetest thing I've ever seen another kid do, but of course my kid didn't give a rip about how upset Bean and I were both getting.

I walked a little farther away, and Eldest finally came running up behind and when he got to me he gave me a healthy smack on the rear. I grabbed his arm and told him hitting was not OK and that he wasn't getting any TV for it. This caused our previous standoff to continue and he stood on the sidewalk screaming at me while I "pretended" to walk away without him. By the way, both babies were crying at this point...as well as Bean, whose fear of me leaving Eldest behind was being realized before his eyes (no, I wasn't going to leave him).

I kept walking until I got the corner and looked back. Eldest hadn't budged, so I went and got him. I took him by the wrist and practically dragged him down the sidewalk...the whole time he was screaming "LET GO YOU'RE HURTING ME!" I tell you, I could hear people dialing CPS. After I let go, he followed me for about ten feet before becoming beligerant again, and at this point I wanted to go home. It was still raining, the babies were upset, and I was tired! So, I picked him up and threw him over my shoulder and pushed the double jogger home with one hand while Bean followed me.

Watching these kids is easy. They have similar schedules to mine and their mom and I have similar parenting styles, so I feel good about watching them for her. However, what amazes me is how everything happens at once. Like everyone crying while we were walking back from the park, or Eldest taking a dump in his pants as each baby is getting up from naps. Or, for the love of Pete, why everyone decides to cry and get upset RIGHT when my friend picks her kids up!! Yesterday it was as if Eldest checked the clock and saw it was almost time for them to go, so he punched Youngest, whose high pitch squel made Peanut cry, and Eldest was put in timeout, so he was crying...then "DING DONG!" Perfect timing.

So, stay tuned for more stories from "Crazy Mommy's" I'm looking forward to sharing!! By the way, after yesterdays walk I went out with friends for a night cap and tried my first "Irish Car Bomb"...yeah, where have THOSE been all my life?

I've made a change...

These past few weeks we've had a few days where the weather was nice enough for us to spend the day outside. During these days I started to think having dirt for a floor wouldn't really be a bad idea, since my kids will be bringing at least a quarter of the dirt from our garden into my kitchen each day. This gave me the brilliant new title for the blog...Black Bath Water.

Last year the bath water was just brown. Don't get me wrong, brown is still gross, but this year, with both kids...it's going to be narley.

We'll see if I change the title again come Fall, but I'll never change the web address. Those of you that actually read the blog regularly (yes, all 10 of you) can rest assured knowing that you won't lose track of where I am.

This Thursday/Friday its supposed to be in the 80s. I plan on getting outside and maybe even blowing up the kiddie pool! Has summer finally arrived to the NW, or are we going to be plagued with one more snowfall before the blistering heat arrives?

Bring on the dirt!

Blogger question of the day: how do I get posts published on the main page? When approve/publish them, there's only a link. I just want them to appear after the post.

Phil's 40th Birthday (aka: the recreation of the last scene in dirty dancing)

What happens when you finally through a party where the kids are left at home??? Only the BEST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!

Our friend Melissa threw her husband, Phil, an awesome 40th birthday party this past weekend, complete with Cinco de Mayo theme. I don't think my margarita glass was EVER empty.

So, How does dirty dancing come into play? Truthfully, I don't really know. I think it began with the girls singing "Let's Hear it for the Boy" together:

which lead to a lose conversation about 80's films:

which lead to this:

Yes, I rule...and I have AWESOME friends!

Two movies in one week...who is this woman?

Yes my friends, you read correctly. I went to not one, not none, but TWO movies in one week. I saw "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Baby Mama". Thanks to their exceptional writing (and birthing two baby boys), both movies made me laugh so hard I nearly peed my pants.

"FSM" had a lot of full frontal MALE nudity in it, which was surprising and at times unnecessary. I'm not against it, but well you can't dress up a penis and make it look nice. However, the context was pretty funny. What's unfortunate is it happens in the beginning, so I'm sure some guys probably left the film after being assulted by this guys penis four or five times (or almost did like my friends...ALMOST, they figured if they had to sit through man parts, women parts were bound to show up...they do, but it's not as impressive haha).

"Baby Mama" cracked my friend Jess and I up. Our favorite line by far was "aaaahhhhh, it feels like I'm sh*ting a knife" when Amy Pohler's character went into labor. I'm using that the next time I go in. That's bound to get a few laughs. I did tear up a few times, it's hard not to when you are a mom, and see a movie about being a mom, even if it's a hillarious comedy (you should of seen us when we saw Juno!!!). This night was also pretty hillarious because we saw the movie on opening night (Friday). It was like the two of us were on a date!! We got there late, so we had to sit in the back, we were surrounded by teenagers that wouldn't shut-up and during the scary preview Jess latched onto my arm while I covered my eyes. Hillarious. Here's a photo of us on our "first date". We've already decided our kids will be exceptionally beautiful.

Anyway, Two films in one week, with TWO more for sure this month ("Sex & the City" and "Indiana Jones"). When will this wonderful dream end?
